Using Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle to Improve Nursing Communication in Challenging Situations

This paper utilizes Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle to analyze a difficult conversation between a nurse and a resuscitator during a medical emergency. It explores the emotional impact of public criticism, highlights the importance of preparation and communication, and identifies areas for professional growth. By reflecting on the incident, the nurse gains insights into improving patient assessment, documentation, and interprofessional dialogue. The reflection ultimately fosters learning and informs an action plan to manage future complex interactions more effectively, enhancing the quality of care and professional confidence.
