The Problem of Homelessness: Sociological Perspectives
Homelessness is a critical social issue influenced by poverty, inadequate medical services, and family instability. This paper applies three sociological perspectives to analyze its causes and implications. Conflict theory highlights systemic inequalities and resource struggles, while symbolic interactionism examines individual ideologies contributing to homelessness. Functionalism views homelessness as a structural consequence of societal functioning. Understanding these theories helps stakeholders develop effective policies and interventions to reduce homelessness and improve affected individuals’ lives.
