Role of Gender in Society

Gender roles are culturally defined patterns of behavior distinguishing male and female responsibilities. These roles, often rooted in traditional norms, vary across societies and influence social expectations. Men are typically associated with physical and authoritative roles, while women are linked to domestic and emotional tasks. Although globalization has encouraged progress toward gender equality, traditional gender roles persist in many cultures. Full societal equality remains an ongoing challenge requiring further integration of shared responsibilities across genders.
