Major Themes of Social Studies

Social studies encompasses various themes including culture, global connections, time continuity, and individual development. These themes, such as “Time, Continuity, and Change” and “People, Places, and Environments,” are integral in helping students understand history, their relationship with the environment, and their role in society. Through studying social studies, students develop critical thinking, reading, and problem-solving skills, which prepare them to be active, informed citizens who can contribute meaningfully to society and democracy.
