Geocentric and Heliocentric Models of Solar System

This paper traces the historical evolution of astronomical models, beginning with the geocentric theory rooted in ancient Greek thought and solidified by Ptolemy. The Church later adopted this model as theological doctrine. However, the heliocentric model introduced by Copernicus during the Renaissance challenged this view, facing religious resistance. Despite persecution of early proponents like Bruno and Galileo, the heliocentric model eventually prevailed, marking a pivotal shift in scientific understanding and diminishing the Church’s control over cosmological interpretation.
