Deviance and Social Control
Deviance, the violation of social norms, plays a critical role in society by clarifying moral boundaries, promoting social unity, and encouraging social change. Sociological theories, including functionalism and social control, explain the reasons behind deviant behavior and its regulation. Informal and formal social controls, along with psychological motivations, shape how individuals interact with societal norms. Despite efforts to curb deviance, it remains a natural element of societal dynamics, contributing to social order and development.
